Headset
I needed an aviation headset for my next project. The 'Peltor' headsets are great, but above my budget. On eBay there were two(2) Peltor headsets for $30, well within my budget. Both were used/broken. The first was easy to fix. But the second took more time.
The microphone mount/housing was missing. A contact was made to the Peltor repair center and they wanted $150 for a replacement part. I got a large white nylon washer (picture 3) and drilled the center until the mic element would fit. Next I cut a disk of Plexiglas for the bottom. After using epoxy to put the pieces together, I drilled a mounting hole in the side and painted it black.
For the mouth piece I drilled small holes in the cap from a water bottle(picture 4). After the epoxy set I touched up the paint and now I have two working headsets. You can click on each picture for a closer look.

EKG
When my heart
goes out of sync, mummer, I can use my EKG and get a screen shot of what is
occurring. Then I take this with me to the cardiologist and he can evaluate
what procedure is next for me. In the past a change of meds will solve
the issue. When I first built this I did not have the pads that adhere to
the body, so I used pennies and painters blue tape to secure the electrodes.
Lost a lot of chest hair in the early test phases of this unit.
Intercom for Dune Buggy - September 2014
Not that my dune buggy is loud, Sheari asked me to build an
intercom so we could chat as we drive. Built this intercom this past
weekend. Used parts I had, with the exception of buying the headsets, free
stuff.
